10 Websites That Will Get You Through The Day

By Fireman Mike June 11, 2009

workWe know you get bored at work, maybe even a little bored while you’re listening to me at work when I play “The Ratings Game”, and you need to waste the time before you go home or to your Thursday night softball game. So we might as well give you another reason not to do your work. Here are 10 Websites To Get Through The Day, and consume you enough that you’ll forget how much your job sucks. This is your boss’ worst nightmare!

Virtual Globetrotting - This site lets you check out celebrity homes that might as well have their own area code. You can use it to see who the nearest celeb is to you, get jealous of where talentless people like Paris Hilton live or just become a good, old-fashioned stalker. We’re not here to judge.

Google Maps - Again, kind of a stalker’s dream but this site is great for directions, looking for a travel destination or trying to sabotage your neighbor’s fenced-in yard. Isn’t the internet great?

Baseball-Reference - This site is great for stat nerds. Other sports’ stats aren’t really as hallowed as baseball’s, which makes it almost acceptable to obsess over some of them. The best part is how they compare players from different eras toward the bottom of each player’s page. Last year, Raul Ibanez was compared to Jeff Conine. This year, if he keeps up on this pace, he’ll be the career leader for home runs hit at age 37. More than Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds. Weird, huh? Look it up!

cover_98Sports Illustrated Vault - This time ten years ago, Latrell Sprewell donned the cover of SI with the statement, “Love ‘Em or Hate ‘Em” below a picture of him slashing to the hole. Browse through every SI issue ever published and purchase any cover ever printed.

TMZ - If you are a celebrity gossip type, this will be your favorite website of the bunch. They dig up the dirt, find the funny stories and expose the stupidity in Hollywood. They are well known so when celebs see their cameras coming, they usually act like saint or tweak out.

NBADraft.net - This is the ultimate source for NBA Draft breaking news and college basketball stars. The best part is looking through the history of the NBA Draft and realizing how teams like the Clippers stay absolutely rotten. After going through their picks, you don’t even feel bad for them. The get what they deserve.

Fark - The best site in the world for odd news and hysterical stories. If you don’t realize how stupid America actually is, you will after an hour on Fark. They have the ability to uncover the humor in the simplest of articles. It’s a daily “must read”.

Scout.com - If you’re into football recruiting, NFL Draft coverage or just seeing players ranked in a list, Scout.com will be a great time burner for you. They allow you to follow guys from high school through college and into the pros. They also do a great job on the basketball tip as well.

monkeyYouTube - Everybody has heard of it but sometimes it slips your mind when you’re searching the web. The hardest part will probably be holding in your laughter while you’re watching an overweight guy get hit in the manhood with a golf ball while he’s trying to fish his own ball out of the pond.

Model Mayhem - Another guilty pleasure. Check out girls in your area or compete with your modelmayhembuddy in the next cubicle to see who can find the hottest chick in a certain state within a certain amount of time. Go the other way too, see who can find the ugliest, toothless inbred. It’s funny as hell to look at people who think they are models. Ouch!

There you have it. Your boss officially hates us. If you can’t get through the day with these websites, we can’t help you. But we could suggest checking out TheSpread.com and finding a game to bet on tonight. We would never encourage that type of behavior though.
