Better Chance Of Success: ND vs USC or The UFL?
By
When is your show going to be in Seattle? Ryan, Seattle
It is bro. It’s on 710 ESPN. That used to be known as KIRO. It was a newsradio station for years. My dad loved that station. Dave Ross and Wayne Cody were on it, when I was younger. Turn it on brotha!
Colin, who is your favorite to win the National League in 2009? Jamal, LA
I don’t really have one. All three divisional leaders have flaws. The Cardinals need more sticks. The Dodgers have a younger starting staff, talented but young. The Phillies have been inconsistent and who knows if Pedro holds up. I wouldn’t be surprised if any of them won the NLCS or the World Serie.
Colin, Do you think a league like the UFL or a different football league could succeed if it focused more on elite high school and college players rather than the last guys on NFL rosters? Wouldn’t guys like Terrelle Pryor or Reggie Bush rather earn $50K or $100K in a minor league football system while they earn their NFL draft eligibility? Juan, Phoenix
Taking on the NFL is like taking on Tony Soprano in New Jersey. You might have fun at the beginning of your endeavor, but you’re eventually gonna get whacked and your family is going to be left broke. Star high school players love college football. It’s cool. You get publicity, you have gorgeous coeds hanging on you for three or four years and the connections you make in college dwarf any level of football lower than the NFL. There won’t be a UFL franchise with the type of facilities or budget of the big time college football programs. Minor league football is just that, minor league. Very few five star recruits would take that route.
Colin, If Notre Dame wins only 7 games this year, but one win is against USC, does Weis keep his job? Matt, Chicago
That’s a tough call. Weis hasn’t really beaten one great team since he’s been at Notre Dame. He’s feasted on a steady diet of Purdue, Stanford, and Navy. My guess is, seven wins for Charlie, and he’s in trouble. But I contend the Irish will win 9-10 games this season, so I think he’s safe.

You haven’t answered any questions in months! What’s the deal Herd? That busy with the radio and tv show?
