Where Will The T.O. Show Go Next?
ByWhen Terrell Owens signed with the Buffalo Bills over the summer you could tell something just wasn’t right. From the marching band at the airport to the claims that Owens would be the cornerstone of the new upbeat offense, the T.O.
Show - literally - was hotter than ever. After a 1-4 start, it looks like the T.O. Show is about to move on to its next location.
It would make total sense for the Bills to trade Owens and get something in return as soon as possible. First of all, Terrell Owens isn’t signing another contract with Buffalo. It wasn’t his first choice to begin with and after spending just a few months with the Bills it’s obvious this is not an overly productive marriage. Both partners have done their best to get along but the chemistry simply isn’t there. No hard feelings, it’s just time to move on and for both sides to find something new.
By trading Owens sooner than later, the cash-conscious Bills would be off the hook for up to 75% of Owens contract. That would be addition by subtraction in itself. Creating more cap space would give the Bills an opportunity to be a little aggressive this offseason or in the draft. The draft is the last reason why this would be a prudent move for the Bills. Whoever wants Owens would have to supply Buffalo with a mid-round selection, a pick that could possibly be as high as the second round. NFL franchises are built through the draft as Buffalo has found out the hard way. The Bills haven’t fully gone the way of the Redskins and they still have a team that is salvageable for the future.
Here are a few possible suitors for the manic wide receiver:
Bears - Chicago couldn’t steal Brandon Marshall during the Broncos fire sale this summer or Braylon Edwards in the market. If they give up a mid-round draft choice they could get a great possession receiver, an occasional deep threat and someone Jay Cutler can turn to for the remainder of the year. If things work out, Owens could finish his career in Chicago.
Vikings - Brett Favre made a push to get Terrell Owens a few years back when he was with the Packers. Minnesota is clearly all-in this season and has every reason to believe that can win a Super Bowl. Favre recently said this is the best teams he’s ever been on. It would only get better with the addition of Owens.
Jets - They just got Braylon Edwards, why not grab Owens and turn what was your weakness last week into one of the most dangerous units in the AFC? If it’s a matter of protecting Mark Sanchez’ psyche the Jets might not be interested but if they feel like Sanchez could handle Owens’ dominant personality this could be interesting.
Ravens - Joe Flacco has given the Baltimore brass every reason to believe that he would take advantage of a deep threat if he had one. The Ravens were in the running for Owens before he went to Philadelphia a few years back and will
definitely be on the phone to discuss him this time around. Do you think T.O. would act up in a locker room run by Terrell Owens? I don’t think John Gotti would have acted out of line around Ray-Ray.
Steelers - Are you seeing a trend here? Any stable organization wouldn’t have a problem bringing Owens in at this point in his career because they all know he is playing for a contract. Throwing him into the mix with Hines Ward, Limas Sweed and new deep threat Mike Wallace would give Ben Roethlisberger one more legit receiving threat.
Bengals - Carson Palmer had his best seasons in Cincy when he had multiple Pro Bowl-caliber receivers lined up on the outside. He never had an issue with spreading the wealth either. With Cincinnati in the mix right now and Andre Caldwell or Chris Henry as the second receiver behind OchoCinco, this would be a pretty good move for the Bengals. It would be especially satisfying if Pittsburgh and Baltimore were in the running for Owens and the Bengals were to pry him away.
Anywhere T.O. goes this season, it will make for a great story. Whether or not that story has a happy ending is what makes him so interesting.

You hating on the guy. The trade possibilities are good discussion bu it\’s mot gonna happen. This article was trash. And just a reason to talk bad about someone. You looking for his downfall. Your a hater. Have you ever played sports and actually got dirty. These cats aren\’t out there just risking thier selves for money. T.O. Is one of the biggest A-holes buy he still deserves a fair shot at peace. It\’s like your salivating for his next big press conference. Get a life. And stop stirring up rumors.
A Bears trade would require the Bills giving up a top receiver for a 3rd or 4th round pick. It would be similar to the Randy Moss trade with Oakland. However, in that trade most \’experts\’ said Moss was washed up and his knees were gone. T.O. is still one of the top guys in the game.
The Bears traded their first round pick from this past draft and next year\’s draft to get Cutler. Asking for a 2nd round pick would mean the Bears wouldn\’t have a draft pick until the 3rd round. That\’s destroying your teams future to win now. The best the Bears could offer would be a 4th or MAYBE a 3rd round pick if the Bills swallowed some of the contract.
I would love to see T.O. and Cutler together, but I don\’t know if the Bills are desperate enough to let him go for so little in return. The Bills would get more in return from the Ravens or Jets.
