Top 10 Games in the Next 10 Days
ByOctober is the best month in American sports but with the World Series running into the first week of November we have another whole week of excitement in store. Every World Series game is important, that’s a given, but in terms of excitement you really can’t beat a big time college football matchup.
Looking forward through next Sunday here are the top ten games of the next ten days:
1. #4 USC @ #6 Oregon, Saturday 8pm ET
Whoa Nelly! Forget about the SEC and Big Ten, this is going to be the most exciting game of the season. You simply can’t beat a game under the lights at Autzen Stadium matching two of the top 6 teams in the nation. They broke the record for decibel level in a stadium with noise that was louder than the takeoff of a jumbo jet. Imagine trying to call plays under in that type of atmosphere? Welcome to freshman QB Matt Barkley’s world on Saturday night. While most freshmen will be dressed up in costume getting hammered, Barkley will be throwing his coming out party in front of the entire nation. See you there!
2. #3 Texas @ #9 Oklahoma State, Saturday 8pm ET
You won’t be bored for any extended period of time on Saturday night. You’ll either be extinguishing flaming bags of poop on your front steps thanks to the little neighborhood jerks or you’ll be flipping back and forth between USC-Oregon and the two best teams in the Big 12. Colt McCoy leads his Longhorns into Boone Pickens Country for a battle with Zac Robinson and his underdog Cowboys. Here are a few helpful hints to make your night more enjoyable: Take OSU +9.5 and don’t stomp on that bag of poop! Use a shovel and toss it into your neighbor’s yard. It’s not your problem once it crosses that line.
3. Yankees @ Phillies, Game 4 Sunday Night 8:30pm ET
This is going to be the premier game of The Series. CC Sabathia comes back against Cliff Lee, both on three days rest. It’s almost certain - barring a Yankee breakdown - that someone will be up 2-1 in the series and will have the opportunity to take complete control with a win from their ace. The team who is down in the series will be fighting for their collective lives and nothing but good comes out of that situation. When desperate teams with talent have their backs up against the wall crazy things happen.
4. Vikings @ Green Bay, Sunday 4:15pm ET
It’s nice of the NFL to do Major League Baseball a favor by not putting this game directly up against the World Series. With Brett Favre as the main attraction, who knows what type of rating this game would have got. The 6-1 Vikings, coming off a loss to Pittsburgh, roll into Green Bay looking to take the season series from the Packers and also seize total control over the NFC Central. QB Aaron Rodgers will have other plans. If you don’t get this matchup in your area, it’s time to pony up a few bucks for the NFL Package.
5. #7 LSU @ #2 Alabama, Saturday (Nov. 7th) 3:30 ET
This weekend’s hype will revolve around the PAC-10 but next weekend will be all about the SEC as LSU tries to knock Alabama from the ranks of the unbeatens. Barring an upset this weekend - LSU plays Tulane while Bama has this week off - this game will be a matchup of top ten teams looking to prove something on the conference front and in the national title picture. If LSU can pull off the upset and Florida loses to a lesser opponent somewhere down the line, the Tigers could possibly be in line to make a move into the BCS title picture, but Bama would have to lose another game to……my cornea just erupted. Just enjoy the damn game and let the computer’s figure it out. That’s what it’s gonna comedown to anyway!
6. Giants @ Eagles, Sunday 1pm ET
The Giants have lost two straight. The Eagles rebounded from a loss at the hands of the Raiders two weeks ago by beating the Redskins. Regardless of who loses this game, there is going to be a fan base in panic mode. If the Eagles lose it will be two of three and that loss to the Raiders will be brought back up. If the Giants lose it will be three straight for a team that is considered a Super Bowl contender. Either way, you know we’re going to feed into the stupidity before, after and during the game.
7. Georgia @ #1 Florida Saturday 3:30pm ET
Remember when the Bulldogs entire team rushed the field after an opening touchdown a few years back in The Swamp Jacksonville? The Gators do too and you better believe that picture is going to be plastered on the walls of the Florida locker room this week. Georgia doesn’t field their strongest team in 2009 but whenever two bitter college rivals battle in the SEC it’s a must watch.
8. Broncos @ Ravens, Sunday 1pm ET
The undefeated Broncos are going to face their toughest test of the season when they travel to Baltimore to face Ray Lewis and his violently aggressive friends. The Ravens need to prove to themselves that they can beat a good team and once that happens we expect the Ravens to take off. The Broncos had two weeks to prepare for this matchup as well so both teams will be coming in fresh with something to prove. The Broncos could take total control of the AFC West with a win while the Ravens need a victory to creep back into the picture in the AFC Central.
9. #22 Ohio State @ #23 Penn State Saturday (Nov. 7th) 3:30pm ET
In the preseason this game figured to determine the champion of the Big Ten, possibly who would have the upper hand in the BCS title race. Things haven’t gone as planned for either program but this game still mean everything in term of recruiting, conference prominence and a possible Rose Bowl berth. Terrelle Pryor will be tested by Joe-Pa’s defense all day long but the biggest battle will be between Ohio State’s defense and Penn State QB Darryl Clark. 17 points might win this game.
10. Falcons @ Saints, Monday Night Football
Any game in New Orleans seems to have an electric atmosphere right now. Once the city embraces a winner it’s hard to find a better fan base in the country. Matt Ryan and his Falcons have to travel to the Bayou to face Drew Brees and his boys. It’s hard to stay awake for some Monday Night matchups but we’ve got a feeling this one won’t be a tough sell to football fans.

Dude — do some research. The annual Ga/Fla game is NEVER played in Gainesville or Athens — it’s played in Jacksonville! The Ga celebration in the end zone a couple years ago was in Jacksonville!
Love the show, but you’re slipping on your basic research.
Colin, why would LSU need Florida to lose to get into the BCS Title discussion? If anything, it would benefit them for Florida to go undefeated until the SEC Championship Game so a win would look better for LSU.
Florida v Georgia is going to be a blowout.
OSU and PSU is a good matchup because both teams stink. They couldn’t beat the big east champ. The loser should go to the weed eater bowl.
Go Big Blue (the leaders and the best)
Bro, you sent this 4 hours after the game was played. Are you serious?
