Jevan Snead Enters NFL Draft
ByMississippi quarterback Jevan Snead will enter the NFL Draft after a disappointing junior campaign that culminated with the Rebels’ 21-7 Cotton Bowl win over Oklahoma State in which he threw three interceptions.
Snead came into the season as one of the two top rated quarterbacks in the country alongside Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford but fizzled with tough outings against Memphis and South Carolina and early losses to South Carolina and Alabama. After five games, Snead had thrown 9 TDs with 9 INTs and all the hype surrounding the junior standout was silenced.
Snead’s skill-set is tremendous but his decision making is questionable and he turns the ball over way too many times to be considered with the elite level quarterbacks in the college game. But that means absolutely nothing to NFL Scouts who believe they see something special in Snead and can turn him into a franchise quarterback.
Snead transferred from the University of Texas after losing the quarterback battle to Colt McCoy during his freshman season. He took the NCAA-mandated year off as a transfer and assumed the starting job at Ole Miss as a sophomore. He famously led the Rebels over the 2008 National Champion Florida Gators in that ‘08 season and outplayed Tim Tebow while doing so.
If scouts can look past Snead’s 20 INTs this past season he could be a first round pick in this year’s NFL Draft.
